Business Process Modeling for Business Analysis

1. Context diagram:

This is a high-level framework that shows the interrelationship and activities either initiated or needed by the organization, the interaction between people, process, and activities(customer, bank, external partners)

2. Functional Flow Diagram:

It starts with the stakeholder: the customer, and how this stakeholder interact with internal stakeholder groups

3. Cross-Functional Flow Diagram: aka, Swimlane line diagram, activity diagrams

It captures and describes the process in the context of the actors responsible for performing the work. to clearly visualize the process.

4. Flowchart Diagram

It shows the sequential flow, captures the step-by-step activities, and demonstrates who and what to be involved in to achieve a goal.

To ensure consistency in modeling, avised to use:

UML: Unified modelling language or BPMN: Business Process Modelling Notation. depending on the organizational standards.

Recommended software tools: Microsoft Visio for cross-functional flow diagram, PowerPoint presentation can also do the job of a simple diagram.

Remember to validate the diagram you created with all the internal stakeholders involves and keep them in the email communication loop to ensure buy-in.

The purpose of using a diagram is to improve efficiency by visualizing communication for the current state and what it is to be (the big picture of the future state). Avoid hindered by the over-detailed steps which might slow your work down.
